Interactive Posters Offer a Kiss from a Celebrity

Providing crazed fans with just another level of obsession to their often disturbing displays of devotion, Japan now has posters, featuring popular artists, which interact when you try to kiss them.  The system, which is still under development at Keio University, uses sensors to determine the distance from the poster to people passing by.

Suggestions from those who have interacted with the posters in its testing phase include conversations with the poster, scents (like shampoo) and other fairly creepy concepts for a public poster.  Though many blogs agree that this is a bad idea, the idea of personal digital experiences with celebrities could be a big benefit for advertising.
