Hovding – The Invisible Bike Helmet

Bikes are cool.  Helmets are not always so cool.  But crashing on your bike without a helmet is even less cool.  And since the fashion and safety are equally important in any cycling trip, Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin engineered the perfect compromise – that doesn’t compromise on either style or safety.

The Hovding looks like an oversized collar, but it contains a helmet-shaped air bag that deploys when its sensors pick up the abnormal movements of an accident waiting to happen.   Obviously with all of that stuffed inside the collar, it’s going to stand out a bit – but it won’t mess up your hair like a normal helmet.

Saving your style while saving your head doesn’t come cheap, though – a Hovding with the shell that covers it costs 4,000 kronor, or around $600 USD.
