Embrace Your Inner Wizard at Universal Studios’ Diagon Alley

The most famous street in the magical world is finally ready for Muggles to experience.

Universal Orlando’s Diagon Alley is an expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and is almost an exact replica of the film franchise’s design. Guests can experience the park’s new themed ride, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, immerse themselves in authentic British food (fish and chips!) and browse the various wizard shops.

Fans won’t be disappointed with Diagon Alley’s extensive supply of magical merchandise: everything from brooms to dress robes is available to add to your Potter collection. The Weasley brothers’ joke shop, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, sells toy versions of the charmed prank items from the books and movies; butterbeer ice cream is sold at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor; and best of all, wands of all shapes and sizes are available at the newly expanded Ollivander’s wand shop.

Some wands even “cast” spells throughout the park: specially marked areas let guests perform spells and wreak a tiny bit of non-magical-folk-havoc, such as causing rainstorms or lighting fires, and get the entire spell-casting experience.

Quidditch lovers will be sure not to miss out on donning a Gryffindor jersey or holding their very own golden Snitch at Quality Quidditch supplies, and prospective Hogwarts students can find cauldrons and other school supplies at Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment. For park attendees who lean toward the dark side, Knockturn Alley hosts Borgin and Burkes, a store with some less wholesome items for sale (Death Eater masks, anyone?).

Anyone wanting to attend both sections of The Wizarding World can take the Hogwarts express to and from both parks, a four-minute ride that may or may not feature some special guest appearances from Dementors. The park is full of hidden magic and tiny details – so attendees should keep a keen eye out for all the Easter eggs!

Muggles and magical folk alike can flock to Diagon Alley starting July 8 at Universal Studios Florida.
