FRIDAY VIDEO: CONTROLLING A FLOOD WITH A SINGLE APP

We have yet to see Darren Aronofsky’s new film Noah, but we’ve heard some rumors. Apparently, it rains a lot. Like there’s a one hundred percent chance of precipitation covering one hundred percent of the Earth. But c’mon! It’s rain! How hard can that be for the special effects guys to whip up when we’ve got movies with dragons and Transformers and whatever those blue aliens were in Avatar?

GET YOUR AUCTION FACE ON IT’S BID TIME

“Going once, going twice, sold! To the man in the back with the ‘Keep calm and call Batman’ t-shirt!” You don’t want that to happen. Chest-bursting monsters and a kickbutt Sigourney Weaver might not actually be found in zero gravity, but Alien was right about one thing: In space, no one can hear you scream.  In fact, no one can hear you do anything! So how did Gravity Director Alfonso Cuarόn and Recording Mixer Skip Lievsay deal with this soundless vacuum in their more true-to-life film?

App-only Horror Movie: “Haunting Melissa”

There is now an app that does everything. Literally, now there is an app that is just a movie. The new horror film “Haunting Melissa” will not be released in theatres or even straight to DVD/Blu-ray, it will only be released as an app on your (iOS) device. Created by Neal Edelstein, producer of “The Ring” and “Mulholland Drive,” and Hooked Digital Media, the app-only movie’s goal is to create an instant reaction in the viewers as soon as they see a push notification for a new chapter on their screen.“Haunting Melissa” was inspired by (and is like a technologically updated version of) a couple horror mockumentaries you have probably heard of – “The Blair Witch Project” and “Lake Mungo.”
